The wallet that has now been reaccessed is part of a larger amount of Bitcoin linked to Clifton Collins, who was sentenced to five years in prison for growing and selling cannabis. According to the Irish Times, between late 2011 and early 2012, he bought about 6,000 Bitcoins with money obtained from illegal activities. <\/p>

Collins wrote down the private keys on an A4 piece of paper, which he hid in the aluminum cap of a fishing rod case in a rented property. After his arrest in 2017, the owner of the property emptied the space, and the things that remained were discarded. Collins later claimed that the fishing rod holster was stolen even before the property was vacated. <\/p>
